Moi University to host the Kenya Software and AI Summit 2025


Moi University is proud to host the Kenya Software and AI Summit 2025 from 10th to 12th November 2025 at its Eldoret Annex Campus.
The Summit will bring together software developers, industry leaders, investors, policymakers, and innovators to shape the future of Kenya’s digital economy. Under the theme “Connecting Minds. Shaping Software. Driving Growth.”, the event is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, the Africa Telecommunications Union (ATU), among other key stakeholders in Kenya’s ICT ecosystem.
This event is set to be a defining moment not only for Moi University, but for the entire nation’s innovation landscape.

Being the official host of the Kenya Software and AI Summit 2025, Moi University reinforces its position as a leading hub for science, technology, and innovation.

Establishing the Moi University Center for Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things

In line with the vision of the upcoming Summit, Moi University has announced plans to establish the Moi University Center for Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, a strategic innovation hub that will drive research, training, and real-world applications in next-generation technologies.
The Center will focus on:

  • AI research and machine learning applications in agriculture, health, and education.
  • IoT-based solutions for smart infrastructure, energy efficiency, and environmental monitoring.
  • Digital skills training for students, startups, and local communities.
  • Collaborative innovation through industry-academia partnerships and incubation programs.
  • The AI & IoT Center will serve as a nucleus for experimentation, entrepreneurship, and capacity-building, enabling students and researchers to create solutions that address both local and global challenges.

Forging Strategic MoUs with Industry Leaders

During the Summit, Moi University will also formalize several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading industry players in technology, telecommunications, and software development.
These partnerships will:
• Enable joint research and innovation projects.
• Support internship and mentorship programs for students.
• Facilitate technology transfer and commercialization of university innovations.
• Strengthen curriculum development to meet current and emerging industry standards.
The MoUs form part of Moi University’s long-term strategy to bridge the gap between academia and industry to enhance employability, creativity, and innovation outputs within Kenya’s growing digital economy.

Empowering Students and the Local Tech Ecosystem

At the heart of the Kenya Software and AI Summit 2025 will be students and young innovators. Moi University is mobilizing student teams to participate in hackathons, startup showcases, and innovation challenges, with a focus on solving real-world problems in health, agriculture, climate resilience, and governance.
Winning teams will gain access to mentorship, incubation opportunities, and potential funding through the Moi University Innovation and Incubation Center.
